SUSPENSION AND STEERING (INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTICS)

 

 

 

 

At Spectrac Suspension center, we have skilled technicians who will perform a professional inspection of the system, providing you with a complete analysis of the current conditions and repair cost estimate. Spectrac is a full-service steering and suspension repair facility.

1.  Steering Columns and Manual Steering Gears

     a.  Diagnose steering column noises and steering effort concerns and determine needed repairs.

     b.  Diagnose steering gear (non-rack and pinion) noises, binding, vibration, freeplay, steering effort, lubricant leakage.

     c.  Diagnose manual rack and pinion steering system and determine needed repairs.

     d.  Diagnose power steering gear and power rack and pinion gear assembly.

     e.  Inspect fluid level and condition; check alignment of steering pump belts and tensioners.

     f.  Inspect steering pump, mounting brackets, seals, gaskets, resevior and valves.

2.  Front Suspension and Rear Suspension

     a.  Diagnose front suspension system noises, body sway/roll, and ride height concerns and determine needed repairs.

     b.  Inspect the upper and lower control arms, bushings, shafts, strut rods/radius arms, kingpins, bearings and bushings.

     c.  Inspect steering knuckle/spindle assemblies steering arms, front and rear ball joints and tie rod/toe link assembly.

     d.  Inspect front suspension system coil springs/leaf springs, insulators (silencers) shackles, brackets and links.

     e.  Inspect stabilizer bar (sway bar) , strut cartridge or assembly, strut bearings and mount.

     f.  Inspect rear suspension system lateral links/arms (track bars), control (trailing) arms.

     g.  Inspect rear axle assembly for noises, bending, warp age and misalignment.

     h.  Inspect shock absorbers, mounts, bushings; air shock absorbers, lines and fittings.

     i.  Diagnose and inspect front and/or rear axle(s) and components.

     j.  Diagnose and inspect components of electrically controlled suspension systems (includes primary and supplemental air suspension and air ride systems).

     k.  Inspect the front and/or rear cradle (cross-member/sub-frame).

 

                                                         WHEEL ALIGNMENT DIAGNOSIS, ADJUSTMENT AND REPAIR

          1.  Diagnose vehicle wander, drift, pull, hard steering, bump steer (toe curve), memory steer, torque steer, and steering return concerns.

          2.  Check and adjust front and rear wheel  camber on suspension systems with a camber adjustment; also, front and rear wheel camber on non-adjustable suspension systems.

          3.  Check and adjust caster, front wheel toe and front wheel setback.

          4.  Center steering wheel, toe-out on turns (turning radius/angle), SAI/KPI (steering axis inclination/kingpin inclination).

          5.  Check front cradle (cross-member/sub-frame) alignment; determine repairs and adjustments.
